Hello Visitor,
Welcome!
Young children develop new cognitive, social, intellectual, physical, and language skills each day. Within that development, children need to develop the passion to inquire and the ability to think critically in order to handle the challenges of the future. Today's technology can help teachers do just that in ways that are developmentally appropriate. Teachers can help children use technology as a vehicle to engage with new concepts, develop new skills, ask questions, and learn about communities and cultures. Now, teachers have access to new teaching tools which can be embraced to develop new, high quality, and meaningful experiences for young children.
It is important to note that implementing strategies which utilize technology requires complex and in-depth training. This training can take several forms: action research in classrooms, professional book clubs, workshop series, conference attendance, and consultation. The absence of high quality professional development can easily lead to inappropriate uses of technology.
As you move forward with exploring new ways to use technology to support learning, you will be blown away with what your students can learn about themselves and the world around them. You will be astounded by how you can use new tools to carry out innovative teaching practices!
